WILLEMSTAD – The government of Curaçao has officially signed an agreement with Coral Estate Luxury Resort to support the development of a new project called Livin’Green, marking a significant expansion of the resort. The Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning confirmed the announcement in a press release on Tuesday.
Minister Charles Cooper (MFK), who signed on behalf of the government, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to cooperate in the revision of the Island Development Plan (EOP), which governs spatial planning across the island.
The Livin’Green project represents a $30 million investment aimed at creating a high-end tourism development. It includes the construction of 29 hotel units, 7 luxury oceanfront villas, and 4 care villas with medical suites and staff accommodations. The project is said to align with the original 1994 Coral Estate master plan.
According to the plans, only 30 percent of the development area will be built on, with the remaining 70 percent preserved as open green space. The project also emphasizes the use of native plants to enhance local biodiversity, and the first 15 meters from the coastline will remain untouched as a designated nature zone.
To encourage public input, the government has announced a public hearing scheduled for Monday, where residents can voice their opinions regarding the proposed zoning adjustments and environmental considerations.
Livin’Green is being positioned as a model for sustainable tourism development, balancing luxury with ecological preservation.
