WILLEMSTAD – The government intends to reclaim overpaid salaries from civil servants, following growing unrest after an internal memo on the issue was leaked on social media.
According to the memo, the amounts in question range from 500 to 12,000 guilders and are to be repaid through salary deductions. The measure stems from a directive issued by the Shared Services Organization (SSO) to the Ministry of Administration, Planning and Services (BPD).
Caretaker Minister Shalten Hato (MFK), who oversees the ministry, is currently on a working visit to the Netherlands and has not yet issued a response.
In the meantime, civil servants' unions are demanding clarification and full transparency regarding the overpaid sums, the employees involved, and the decision-making process within the Council of Ministers.
