Government Launches Financial Health Campaign for Curaçao Residents

WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW), in collaboration with the Dutch National Institute for Family Finance Information (Nibud), has launched a joint campaign aimed at improving the financial well-being of the people of Curaçao.

The initiative focuses on preventing debt, promoting financial education, and rolling out public awareness efforts. A key milestone in the campaign is the release of an informational brochure developed specifically for Curaçao.

According to Jurenne Hooi of the Money Management Committee, the brochure includes practical tips, details on local support services, and strategies for managing household budgets. “The goal is to promote the financial health of our population,” said Hooi.

The brochure is available digitally via social media, including SOAW’s Facebook page. Printed copies can be obtained at neighborhood offices and SOAW branches, and will soon be distributed in waiting rooms of doctors’ offices and other public institutions.

The campaign underscores the government's commitment to empowering citizens with the tools and knowledge needed for more secure and sustainable financial futures.
