WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN) calls on people not to use the Jumbo bags of fresh spinach. The products may contain the STEC bacteria.
The STEC bacterium is a type of E.coli and people who ingest it can become ill. The bacterium is especially dangerous for pregnant women, young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
The ministry warns consumers, restaurants and mini markets not to use the 450 gram bags of unwashed spinach and the washed 600 gram spinach. These are products with the codes 8711715882363 and 8718452309870.
The hygiene department (THZ) carries out checks at supermarkets and other places where the bags of spinach are sold.
