SANTO DOMINGO – Gilbert Ricardo, former leader of the political party Un Mihó Kòrsou, has been rescued following the disaster at JetSet nightclub in Santo Domingo, where the roof collapsed late last night. Ricardo was inside the club at the time of the incident but was quickly pulled to safety.
He is currently hospitalized and recovering. According to family members, he is in stable condition and not in any life-threatening danger.
As the death toll continues to rise, authorities have confirmed at least 113 fatalities and 155 injuries so far. It remains unclear whether other Curaçao residents were present in the nightclub during the collapse.
JetSet has a capacity of nearly 1,000 people. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the tragic incident.
