WILLEMSTAD - Grupo Internashonal Kòrsou (GIK B.V.) is making another attempt at operating the refinery. Representative Rutsel Martha would like GIK to be designated as preferred bidder.
According to Martha, the Supervisory Board of Refineria di Korsou had previously preferred GIK, but Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper, both from the MFK party ensured that the choice fell on Caribbean Petroleum Refinery (CPR). Now that CPR has been put aside after document forgery, GIK hopes for a new chance.
Cooper responds via social media that the Council of Ministers has no influence on the choice of the preferred bidder for the refinery. According to the minister, the Pisas cabinet is keeping its distance from the process as much as possible and has appointed a headhunting team for this purpose.
