WILLEMSTAD - The government is having an independent investigation carried out into the quality of gasoline and diesel in Curaçao. The German company SGS Inspire has been recruited for this. The company won the public tender. The investigation started last week.
The first phase consists of interviews with various stakeholders. The researchers will also visit the fuel facilities on the island. This should lead to recommendations. The entire study takes about three months to complete. The report should be ready in February. Such an investigation was announced under former Minister of Economic Development Dr. Steven Martina after consumer complaints. Many motorists blame the wear and tear on their engines on the poor quality of fuel. Many people also have the idea that a full tank will not last as long as before.
