General Practitioners Association hopeful about new general practitioner post on March 1

Local | By Correspondent November 21, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao General Practitioners Association (CHV) is hopeful after the meeting with Minister Dorothy Pietersz-Janga of Health, Environment, and Nature about the plans for opening a GP station (HAP).

The President of the CHV, Dr. Jerry Semper is satisfied with the course of the meeting. The CHV has asked for concrete steps. “The minister has mentioned March 1 as a date for opening the HAP. In addition, the minister also had her own ideas. She was also open to input from the association, "said the chairman.

The HAP must give people access to care in the evening, on the weekend, and on public holidays. This will replace the current doctor on duty. In this way, Pietersz-Janga wants to ensure that people who become ill no longer have to call the doctor but can go to a centrally located station themselves.

The ministry will meet again with the CHV next week to realize the HAP. According to Dr. Semper, the working group will already be set up on Tuesday.

In recent years, the realization of a general practitioner post has been discussed several times, but successive ministers did not actually manage to realize this. It is not yet known where the location of the station will be.
