WILLEMSTAD - The general practitioner post (HAP) that must perform the evening, night and weekend shifts will only be opened on January 1, 2024. There is no money to open earlier.
This was announced by the Minister of Finance Javier Silvania, who was handed over the post of Public Health Care this week after the resignation of Health Minister Dorothy Pietersz-Janga.
Silvania states that his predecessor has not reserved funds in the budget, despite her promise to open a HAP on March 1.
It is not clear whether the minister also makes room for an adjustment of the rates for general practitioners who work evening, night and weekend shifts. That was one of the demands of the GP’s union CHV during the work stoppage last Tuesday.
