WILLEMSTAD - The new General Practitioner Emergency Service Curaçao, known as Huisartsenpost Curaçao (HAP), has launched its own website: www.hap.cw. On this website, essential information is available in both Papiamento and Dutch. This information includes explanations about the HAP's procedures, accessibility, the difference between urgency and emergency, and more.
The General Practitioner Emergency Service has been operational since January 1 and is the primary emergency care post in Curaçao. As a government foundation, HAP provides emergency care by general practitioners outside regular working hours, including nights, weekends, and national holidays. This service is available to both patients of affiliated general practitioners and tourists.
A general practitioner is officially recognized as affiliated with the HAP after signing a special agreement by both the general practitioner and the HAP. Currently, 57 general practitioners are officially affiliated with the HAP, while others are still in the process of joining.
Website
Visitors to the website can also check whether their general practitioner is affiliated with the HAP. If a general practitioner is not affiliated with the HAP, they cannot refer patients to the emergency care post, and the general practitioner must take care of after-hours care themselves.
Furthermore, the Facebook page of the HAP, named 'Huisartsenpost Curaçao,' is now also active. On this page, information is shared about the HAP and related topics. This initiative enhances accessibility and information provision regarding emergency care for the residents of Curaçao and its visitors.
