WILLEMSTAD – The price of gasoline in Curaçao is set to increase, while diesel prices will see a slight decrease. The government has announced the latest fuel price adjustments, which will take effect on Tuesday, February 25.
The price of gasoline per liter will rise from 2.07 to 2.10 guilders—an increase of 3.5 cents—whereas diesel prices will drop by nearly two cents, from 1.72 to 1.70 guilders per liter.
According to the government, the increase in gasoline prices is mainly due to a higher purchasing price, a trend linked to international market conditions. The drop in diesel prices is attributed to a lower procurement cost and a correction in the surplus and deficit component, which accounts for market fluctuations.
Price Adjustment Mechanism
Curaçao's fuel pricing system includes a surplus and deficit component, which ensures that fluctuations in international oil prices are gradually passed on to consumers. This mechanism helps offset previous price adjustments or unexpected market changes, balancing any deficits or surpluses in pricing.
Fuel prices in Curaçao are adjusted monthly based on global oil market trends. Alongside the new prices, the government also publishes a detailed breakdown of fuel tariffs, including procurement costs, excise taxes, and distributor margins.
