Gasoline price to decrease by over 8 cents

Local | By Correspondent September 27, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Starting this coming Tuesday, the price of gasoline will drop by more than eight cents. Currently, consumers pay just over 2.15 guilders per liter, but from October 1, the price will be slightly more than 2.08 guilders. This change brings gasoline prices closer to levels seen in February.

Diesel prices will also see a significant reduction, dropping by nearly seven cents. While consumers currently pay 1.80 guilders per liter, the price will decrease to just over 1.73 guilders starting Tuesday. Both diesel and gasoline are benefiting from a decrease in purchasing costs.

Water and Electricity

The price for one kilowatt-hour of electricity will drop by nearly one cent on October 1, rounding down to 61 cents. This price applies to the first 250 kilowatt-hours consumed.

Those who consume more will pay higher rates per unit of electricity after the initial consumption of 250 kilowatt-hours. The next hundred kilowatt-hours will be charged at approximately 71 cents, and consumers who use even more will pay nearly 76 cents per kilowatt-hour for any excess consumption.

In contrast, water prices will see a significant increase. Starting Tuesday, one thousand liters of water will cost approximately 8.93 guilders, which is over 26 cents more per cubic meter for the first nine cubic meters.

A progressive tariff system applies here as well, with the next tier priced at 14.08 guilders, up from 13.83 guilders. For those who exceed twelve cubic meters, the charge will be 16.02 guilders per thousand liters of additional water consumed.
