Gasoline and diesel prices rise in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent February 23, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Gasoline prices in Curaçao will increase by just over ten cents per liter next Tuesday. The price will be over 2.15 guilders, as announced today by the regulator, the Bureau Post en Telecom. The price hike is a result of changes in the global market.

Diesel will increase by almost two and a half cents. Instead of approximately 1.88, after Tuesday, it will be almost 1.90 guilders. The diesel price is based on inventory prices, which were purchased cheaper last year.

Electricity

The price for a kilowatt-hour of electricity will increase by half a cent on March 1st. The new price will be around 65 cents. This price applies to the first 250 kilowatt-hours.

Consumers using more electricity will pay more per delivered unit after exceeding the initial 250 kilowatt-hours. The next hundred kilowatt-hours will be around 75 cents, and for further consumption, the charge will be almost eighty cents per kilowatt-hour.

Water

Water prices will decrease significantly. A thousand liters will cost around 8.82 guilders from Friday, compared to 9.16 guilders last month, a 44-cent decrease per cubic meter for the first nine cubic meters.

The progressive tariff system applies here as well, with the next tier priced at 13.97 guilders, down from 14.30 guilders. For the next eight cubic meters, the cost will be 15.91 guilders, and for consumption exceeding twenty cubic meters, the rate is 17.88 guilders for that additional usage.
