Gasoline and diesel in Curaçao sharply up

Local | By Correspondent February 27, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The price for a liter of gasoline and diesel is going up sharply. At the gas station, a liter of gasoline will cost just over 2.17 guilders next Tuesday. That is about seventeen cents more than is currently the case.

The price of diesel is also rising. Now a liter still costs 1.77 guilders. From Tuesday it will be almost 1.92 guilders. that is fifteen cents more per liter.

The price increase is mainly the result of higher purchase prices on the international market.

Gasoline is subsidized by the Curaçao government with almost 25 cents per liter. As a result, petrol remains cheaper than last year, when prices fluctuated between 2.31 guilders and 2.96 guilders.

Water and electricity

Water and electricity are also going up in price. A kilowatt hour in the cheapest user group now costs just under 70 cents. From March 1, that will be just over 71 cents.

Water rises sharply. A cubic meter of drinking water in the cheapest user group currently costs 9.25 guilders. That will be slightly more than 9.43 guilders from Wednesday, eighteen 18 cents more per 1000 liters.
