WILLEMSTAD - With the latest price drops, the liter price for gasoline and diesel is almost back to the level of early this year. At that time, a liter of gasoline cost 1.99 guilders, four cents more than now, and a liter of diesel was 1.79 guilders, ten cents cheaper.
The highest price for gasoline this year was in September when 2.50 guilders per liter had to be paid to drive. Diesel was the most expensive this month at 2.14 guilders. In August, diesel was the cheapest at 1.61 guilders per liter.
Significant Drop
The price of gasoline will not drop next Tuesday but next Thursday. The date adjustment is due to Christmas. Gasoline will then cost almost 1.95 guilders per liter, 10 cents less than now.
Diesel will drop significantly by almost 26 cents and will cost almost 1.89 guilders starting Thursday.
The drop follows the significant price drop in early December, when gasoline already decreased by 44 cents per liter. Diesel drivers did not benefit at that time because stocks were purchased earlier in the month when prices were still relatively high.
Gasoline and diesel are cheaper due to the purchase price in November and are also of better quality with a higher efficiency standard, as decided earlier. In the coming month, there will still be a mix with older fuel.
