Gas stations owners find criticism Silvania unjustly

Local | By Correspondent March 8, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The pump holders in Curaçao are not happy with the criticism of the Minister of Finance Javier Silvania. They see his "attack" on his colleague, the Minister of Economic Development Ruishandro Cijntje as an attack on them.

Silvania calls on Cijntje to take action to keep the fuel price as low as possible and even lower it by reducing the margins for gas station owners. That statement hit the nerves of the gas station owners. With their margin, they have to cover all operational costs, such as staff costs. They believe that the government should look at measures to reduce the excise duties and tax on fuel.
