Gas prices slightly increase, electricity and water rates drop in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent October 29, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Starting Tuesday, gasoline prices in Curaçao will see a slight increase, while diesel prices will remain unchanged. LPG products, such as 100 lbs and 20 lbs gas cylinders, will also stay at current prices. Meanwhile, from November 1, electricity and water rates will be reduced, as announced by the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao (RAC).

The price for a liter of gasoline will be 2.11 guilders, up by just over three cents from the current 2.08 guilders. Diesel will hold steady at 1.73 guilders per liter.

Reductions in Water and Electricity Costs

The RAC, which oversees the pricing of petroleum products and utilities, highlighted that the small increase in gasoline costs is offset by reductions in electricity and water rates.

Electricity in the lowest tariff band, up to 250 kWh, will drop from just over 60 cents to about 56 cents per kWh, a reduction of five cents. For usage above 350 kWh, the rate will decrease from nearly 76 cents to approximately 71 cents per kWh.

Water rates will also see a decrease. Households using up to nine cubic meters will now pay around 8.55 guilders, down 38 cents from the previous 8.93 guilders. For high consumption, above twenty cubic meters, the rate will be 17.60 guilders, down slightly from 17.99 guilders.
