WILLEMSTAD - From December 2nd to 9th, it's time for the annual fundraising week for Hospice Arco Cavent, Week4Light. This event aims to raise financial support for the hospice, where terminally ill individuals receive optimal care and comfort, focusing on promoting quality of life.
As Hospice Arco Cavent heavily relies on generous donations from individuals, companies, and funds, Week4Light becomes a crucial opportunity to support this vital care institution. The primary goal is to generate both financial support and awareness about the final stages of life, encouraging active participation and honoring loved ones.
"Week4Light is more than just a fundraising event for us. It is an opportunity to openly discuss the final stages of life, a topic often considered taboo. Our goal is to facilitate this conversation in an accessible and realistic manner. Through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and our website, we share stories, short films, and inspiring content to increase awareness. A special highlight of Week4Light is the opportunity to purchase and decorate lantern bags at various sales points. On Saturday, December 9th, participants can place these bags in the large memorial heart at the Cathedral of Thorns. The interplay of the lantern bags and the enchantment of the cathedral provide a beautiful tribute to our loved ones who are no longer with us. The light in the lantern bags also symbolizes a hopeful start for Curaçao in the coming year 2024," says Rianne van Gestel, Director of Hospice Arco Cavent.
From December 2nd to December 9th, lantern bags will be available for purchase for 10 guilders at Zuikertuin (opposite Bruna), van den Tweel, Onderlingehulp, and the Zumpiña Shop at the Cathedral of Thorns. The closing evening is on Saturday, December 9th, at the Cathedral of Thorns. Everyone is welcome between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Admission is free. The entrance is at Landhuis Bloemhof, and there is ample parking at Orco Bank.
