WILLEMSTAD – In a move aimed at ensuring sustainable management of the markets in Willemstad’s city center, Fundashon Marshe and the Minister of Economic Development, Ing. Charles Cooper, officially signed a renewed management agreement today for the 2025–2028 period.

The new agreement reflects the joint commitment of both the foundation and the ministry to strengthen the markets as cultural, social, and economic hubs within downtown Willemstad.
As part of this renewed cooperation, Ing. Remy Ricardo has been appointed interim director of the foundation. During the transition phase, he will oversee daily operations, focusing on strengthening the organization, streamlining operations, and advancing the long-term vision for all six city markets.
Fostering Entrepreneurship and Preserving Cultural Heritage
Fundashon Marshe plays a key role in the management and development of the markets and their surroundings in downtown Willemstad. In close collaboration with both public and private partners, the foundation aims to create a safe, vibrant, and sustainable market environment—one that nurtures local entrepreneurship, attracts visitors, and protects Curaçao’s cultural heritage.
The renewed agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development lays a strong foundation for long-term cooperation, transparency, and professional growth. It represents an investment in markets that contribute to a dynamic center for commerce, culture, and community on the island.
