Local | By Press release September 16, 2024

WILLEMSTADFundashon Marshe recently held an information session for the business owners of Marshe Nobo (new market). During this session, entrepreneurs received updates on the relocation and renovation of Marshe Nobo. The discussion also focused on key action points currently needing attention, possible solutions, and the progress of ongoing measures.

Liezelot Braaf, Director of Fundashon Marshe, and Market Manager Dianne Schenk addressed the business owners. In addition to outlining the renovation plan and the status of the relocation, they explained the steps Fundashon Marshe, in collaboration with the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), will take to support the entrepreneurs. This includes plans for promotional campaigns aimed at encouraging Curaçao residents and tourists to continue visiting the business owners at their temporary location.

The relocation of Marshe Nobo was completed on Friday, September 12, with the last business owners moving to the temporary site. From Sunday, September 15, the Marshe Nobo parking lot will be closed until further notice, and the market is no longer accessible to the public. Fundashon Marshe advises parking at Waaigat.

The maintenance and renovation of the market aim to modernize Marshe Nobo, enhance safety for both users and visitors, and improve hygiene standards. The goal is to give Marshe Nobo a new identity with attractive features, beyond its current market function. This transformation will draw visitors throughout the day, including evening hours, which will stimulate more economic activity and contribute to the revitalization of the city center.
