WILLEMSTAD – One of the year’s biggest events, Fuikdag, is just around the corner. As in previous years, the government has announced the rules for Fuikdag, set for this Sunday, January 5. These regulations remain consistent with those from past editions.
Key Rules for Fuikdag
No alcohol sales are permitted during Fuikdag.
Floating platforms or stages are not allowed, though DJs performing on boats are permitted.
The Fire Department will inspect for open flames used for barbecues.
Music must stop by 5:00 PM.
After Fuikdag, boats are not allowed to dock at the Santa Barbara pier (near Sandals).
Mandatory Boat Requirements
All participating boats must have the following:
Valid documentation on board: inspection card, registration card, sailing permit, and the captain’s boating license.
Sufficient life jackets in compliance with the boat’s permit.
Signaling equipment, such as a whistle.
The Harbor and Safety Inspection and the Coast Guard will monitor compliance with these requirements.
No Water Taxis
As in previous years, water taxis are prohibited at Fuikdag. Boats shuttling people to and from Fuikbaai are not allowed.
Everyone attending Fuikdag must be aboard a boat anchored in Fuikbaai. Additionally, entry through the private property of Santa Barbara Plantation by foot or vehicle is not permitted, to avoid chaos.
Foreign Vessels
The Immigration Service will inspect boats carrying passengers from abroad.
All foreign boats must check in with Customs and Immigration upon arrival.
Authorities have pledged to enforce the rules strictly to maintain order during the event.
Slipway Access
Those wishing to launch their boats using the slipways at Piscadera or the Caracasbaai fishing harbor must pay a fee.
Payments should be made via MCB account 31968709.
After payment, boat owners must present proof of payment at AVB (formerly LVV).
This can be done on Saturday between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM to collect a slipway access certificate.
The certificate must be shown when launching boats or jet skis.
Authorities remind participants to comply with all rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable Fuikdag.
