WILLEMSTAD - In an exciting football match between the neighborhood teams Rooi Santu and Fuik, Rooi Santu secured a 6-4 victory. However, last weekend’s encounter was not just about winning—it was about teamwork and player development. Young talents were given plenty of opportunities, while tactical coaching played a crucial role in the battle between the second and third-ranked teams in the standings.

Focus on Youth Development
The coaches of both teams explained that they intentionally gave their youngest players more playing time. “We wanted them to practice forming triangles in the game, ensuring they always had a passing option and improving their teamwork,” one coach explained. This approach led to an intense and dynamic match, with both teams executing their pre-planned strategies. Despite a strong effort from Fuik, Rooi Santu ultimately secured the win.
More Than Just a Game
After the match, pride overshadowed disappointment. Former national coach Remko Bicentini highlighted the camaraderie among players: “The players' drive and the way they support each other is impressive. Seeing them come together to put on such a great game is truly special.”
This teamwork extends beyond the field. In preparation for the upcoming Carnival celebrations, both teams are collaborating on community projects. With the children’s parade on Sunday, the players are actively involved in supporting their local community.
The match between Rooi Santu and Fuik proved that sports are about more than just winning or losing. It’s about team spirit, development, and creating lasting memories—both on and off the field.
