WILLEMSTAD – Starting Tuesday, fuel prices in Curaçao will decrease, with gasoline (Mogas 95) priced at 2.085 guilders per liter and diesel (Gasolie (U)LSD) at 1.657 guilders per liter, according to the Regulatory Authority Curaçao (RAC). Prices for gas cylinders will remain unchanged.
Fuel Price Reduction Due to Lower International Costs
The drop in fuel prices is attributed to a decline in international procurement costs. Additionally, the diesel price includes a correction related to supply and demand adjustments. The pump price for gasoline will decrease by 1.8 cents per liter, while diesel will see a 4.1-cent reduction per liter. Gas cylinder prices remain steady at 80 guilders for a 100-lbs cylinder and 16 guilders for a 20-lbs cylinder.
Electricity Becomes Cheaper, Water Prices Increase Slightly
Electricity rates will also drop, benefiting households that consume up to 250 kWh per month. The local rate will decrease from 56.21 cents to 54.45 cents per kWh, a difference of 1.76 cents. The RAC attributes this reduction to lower fuel costs and a tariff correction from February.
However, water prices will see a slight increase. Households consuming less than 9 cubic meters will pay 8.1420 guilders per cubic meter, up from 8.1221 guilders—an increase of just under 2 cents. This rise is due to a higher correction factor, despite lower electricity costs for water production.
The Curaçao government adjusts utility prices monthly based on global market trends. The new rates will remain in effect until further notice, ensuring fair adjustments for consumers, according to RAC.
