WILLEMSTAD – The referees' division of Curaçao’s football association, Fundashon Futbòl Kòrsou (FFK), will launch a free basic referee course starting August 11, the organization announced in a press release.
The course is open to young people aged 15 and up who are interested in officiating matches in the youth, women’s, and men’s leagues. FFK is making a special appeal to women to sign up, citing a shortage of female referees on the island.
The program runs through August 30 and includes a six-month internship period. While participation in the course is free, a nominal registration fee of 10 guilders is required. Registration is open until the start date.
FFK notes that the course is not only intended to support local competitions but also aims to identify candidates with the potential to advance to the official FIFA referee list.
