WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecutor's Office announced this morning that former public prosecutor Gisèle Veen-Jonkhout has passed away.
Veen-Jonkhout began her career on May 1, 1983, at the Court as a Judicial Officer in Training (RAIO). From 1985, she worked at the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Netherlands Antilles, and after October 10, 2010, she continued her career as a public prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor's Office Curaçao.
Throughout her long and impressive career, Gisèle Veen-Jonkhout held many positions within the ministry. She is known as the first female public prosecutor of the Netherlands Antilles and as the first press officer. She dealt with youth and drug cases, among other matters. In December 2013, she retired after thirty years of service.
As a public prosecutor, Veen-Jonkhout made a significant contribution to the judiciary in the Netherlands Antilles and later Curaçao. Her work and dedication have had a lasting impact on the community, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Gisèle Veen-Jonkhout was 66 years old.
