WILLEMSTAD – Former Minister of Governance, Planning and Public Service (BPD) Kimberly Lew Jen Tai appeared before the investigating judge together with her lawyer to seek clarity about an ongoing criminal investigation against her.
The case stems from an incident in December in which Lew Jen Tai allegedly pushed her former partner after he entered her property without permission. According to reports, the man sustained minor injuries and subsequently filed a police complaint.
In addition, a separate complaint was filed concerning alleged mistreatment of her daughter.
Since January, the Public Prosecution Service has formally considered Lew Jen Tai a suspect in the case. However, prosecutors have not yet made a final decision on whether charges will be filed.
During the hearing, Lew Jen Tai asked the investigating judge to provide more clarity about the status and direction of the investigation.
The investigating judge is expected to decide within two weeks on the next steps in the case and how the investigation will proceed.
