WILLEMSTAD – Recently, the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ing. Charles Cooper, signed a new management agreement (beheersovereenkomst) with the Fair Trade Authority Curaçao (FTAC) for the period 2025 to 2028. The signing of this new agreement strengthens the structural collaboration and communication between MEO and FTAC and lays a firmer foundation for continuity.
The agreement regulates, among other things, aspects of ministerial supervision and the financing of the organization. FTAC is the competition authority of Curaçao, which carries out its work in a professional and independent manner. It is responsible for the enforcement of the Competition Act (P.B. 2016 no. 16), which contributes to a better investment climate through the supervision of how the market functions. A poorly functioning market can lead to rising prices, low product quality, and/or limited innovation.
As stipulated in the Competition Act, FTAC publishes all investigations on its website: www.ftac.cw.
