Foreign artists are allowed to perform

Local | By Correspondent December 28, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Foreign artists are allowed to perform on the island up to and including the first Wednesday after Carnival. The Curaçao government has decided this by means of an amendment to the National Ordinance. The exception has been made to the National Ordinance on Public Order.

“In the period from December 1 to the first Wednesday after Carnival, the Minister of Justice grants an event permit for foreign artists,” the government writes in the amendment to the National Decree. The change is also desirable in connection with the corona period that has passed. According to the government, the economy could use some support.

A condition of the amendment of Article 47 of the National Ordinance is that at least one performing artist is or has been a resident of Curaçao. It is therefore important that, in addition to a foreign music group or artist, one of Curaçao origin also performs. The amendment has no financial consequences for the National Budget.
