WILLEMSTAD - The refinery will continue as before with regard to the broad environmental standards. A new nuisance permit has been drawn up for the temporary refinery operator Refineria di Korsou (RdK), which is valid for five years.

It is striking that the permit can be viewed for four weeks to object, but that the government is only now reporting it. Effectively, there are only two weeks left to take action, says Clean Environment Organization (Stichting Schoon Milieu) in Curaçao, the SMOC.

They demand an immediate ban on asphalt as fuel for the installation of Isla and the BOO plant.
