Flights to and from Venezuela will resume from Monday

Local | By Correspondent April 3, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Flights to and from Venezuela will be possible again from Monday. Prime Minister Pisas and the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper signed the treaty on Friday. This was announced by the prime minister in a press release.

Several parties were present at the signing. For example, DCASNP, the organization that deals with air traffic in Curaçao, was on site, as was Outoridat di Aviashon Sivil di Kòrsou, an organization within the Ministry of Transport. The airspace will be opened in three phases. The first phase will start on Monday, April 3, from which time it will be possible for charter flights to travel between the two countries. In the second phase, which starts on May 1, small aircraft are allowed to fly, and the final phase will start on June 1, when regular air traffic will resume.

However, aviation companies and (private) operators must request approval when they want to fly. In addition, the aviation treaty that is currently in force was discussed on Friday. This is from 1991 and is therefore outdated. The authorities agreed on Friday to take a critical look at that treaty in the coming six months.
