FKP to Visit Colombia to Strengthen Curaçao’s Affordable Housing Program Mi Kas Awor

WILLEMSTAD - Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP) will conduct a working visit to Colombia at the end of this month to further develop Curaçao’s national housing initiative Mi Kas Awor. The mission, scheduled from October 26 to November 2, aims to establish concrete agreements with Colombian government and construction institutions experienced in large-scale housing projects.

According to the official invitation sent to the Parliament of Curaçao, the goal is to strengthen the implementation of Mi Kas Awor through collaboration with organizations involved in Colombia’s successful Mi Casa Ya program. Members of the Curaçao delegation will meet with Colombia’s Minister of Housing, Belga María Rivas, the presidents of the national parliament and senate, and representatives from key construction and banking associations such as CAMACOL and Asobancaria.

A visit is also planned to the National Training Service (SENA) to learn from their dual education programs for construction workers and technical installers. In addition, meetings are being arranged with CAFAM, the Colombian institution responsible for managing and distributing rent subsidies.

The mission is being organized in close cooperation with the Ministries of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW), Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning (VVRP), and Finance.

According to FKP, the visit is intended to ensure that from the very start of Mi Kas Awor, Curaçao will have “a robust, credible, and sustainable implementation capacity” to effectively deliver affordable housing solutions to its citizens.
