WILLEMSTAD - On 5 March 2020, the Court of First Instance granted the request of the parents of the stillborn baby Imani.

The parents want the first name of their stillborn born daughter to be added to the drafted lifeless born child certificate. This way she no longer needs to be in the register as "Lifeless T."

The request to add the father's last name has been rejected. Imani's parents were not married at the time of birth and the father had not recognized the (unborn) child. As a result, Imani bears the surname of her mother on the basis of Article 1: 5f of the Dutch Civil Code.
