Firefighters at Hato no longer stationed at the airport overnight

Local | By Correspondent August 21, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The airport fire department at Curaçao’s Hato Airport is no longer stationed at the airport from 10:00 PM to 5:30 AM due to a mold issue. This problem has caused some firefighters to fall ill and they must now stay elsewhere until the issue is resolved.

Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), represented by spokesperson Fayna Haseth, assures that firefighters will only leave the airport after the last commercial flight of the day has departed.

Haseth emphasized that this situation is temporary and that the safety and health of the staff are the highest priorities. Once the mold problem is resolved, normal operations will resume. Commercial flight hours remain from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
