Fire in Albatros Airlines engine during flight for JetAir

WILLEMSTAD - During preparations for a charter flight for JetAir Caribbean in Curaçao, an aircraft from the Venezuelan airline Albatros Airlines experienced a fire in one of its engines. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, just as the aircraft, which was scheduled to operate flights between the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao), started its engines at Curaçao Airport.

JetAir Caribbean has been working for some time to establish flights between Curaçao, Bonaire, and Aruba, but has so far had little success with this venture. This incident raises questions once again about the choice of Albatros Airlines as a partner for these operations.

Experts in the aviation industry have expressed concerns about the decision of the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) to grant JetAir permission to operate flights with a Venezuelan airline. They point to the financial instability and international sanctions that make it difficult to ascertain the safety and maintenance status of Venezuelan aircraft with certainty.
