WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government will allocate fifty thousand guilders next year to address youth prostitution on the island. The same amount, fifty thousand annually, will also be available in the following years until 2027.
The plan to combat youth prostitution is part of a broader neighborhood development plan for Curaçao, being carried out by the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW).
The neighborhood development plan is being implemented in collaboration with various ministries, stakeholders, and non-governmental organizations.
Child Abuse
Additionally, an alert protocol is being implemented, consisting of five steps that professionals in the social services field must follow to take action in cases of suspected child abuse or violence in the neighborhood, including reporting abuse.
The implementation of the alert protocol is one of the highest priorities of the SOAW Ministry to combat child abuse and violence in Curaçao. A communication plan with a national-level awareness campaign will be developed under the alert protocol.
