WILLEMSTAD – The Famia Plania Foundation (FFP) is actively participating in this year’s Carnival season to raise awareness about sexual consent and safe sex. Through its "Briess" campaign, the foundation emphasizes the importance of mutual agreement in sexual interactions and will distribute condoms during the parades.
The "Briess" method is based on a framework where each letter represents a key requirement for mutual consent. If any of these conditions are not met, no sexual activity should take place. FFP highlights that consent must be voluntary, enthusiastic, and fully informed, and it can be withdrawn at any time.
FFP acknowledges that saying "no" can be difficult, particularly when social or financial pressures are involved. Through education and awareness, the organization aims to empower young people to understand their rights and set clear personal boundaries.
In addition to its educational efforts, FFP will continue to hand out condoms at teen and adult parades, as well as jump-ins, to encourage safer sexual behavior during and after Carnival. The foundation hopes that its campaign will help promote respect, awareness, and responsible decision-making in the community.
