WILLEMSTAD – Fergino Brownbill has been appointed as the new President of the Parliament of Curaçao. The confirmation came from Sithree “Cey” van Heydoorn, leader of the ruling party Movimiento Futuro Kòrsou (MFK). Ramon Yung will assume the role of Vice President, while David Seferina will take over as party faction leader, replacing Gilbert Doran.
The appointments bring clarity after a week of speculation and rumors both inside and outside the party. Van Heydoorn confirmed the news during an official interview with local newspaper Èxtra, in which he also dismissed several circulating rumors and elaborated on the party's direction.
One of those rumors involved businessman Hubert Raper being considered for the position of Minister of Economic Development and Tourism (MEO). Both Van Heydoorn and Raper firmly denied these reports.
According to the same publication, the internal reshuffling within MFK could pave the way for Charetti America-Francisca to be considered for a ministerial position in a future cabinet. America-Francisca currently serves as President of Parliament but may be nominated for an executive role during internal consultations. However, no official confirmation has been given on that matter yet.
The latest changes mark a strategic shift within MFK as the party continues to consolidate leadership ahead of potential political developments.
