WILLEMSTAD – Fundashon Desaroyo Deportivo Kòrsou (FDDK) continues to invest in the future of local sports by supporting the participation of young basketball talents Faustino Wawoe and Nheiy-Jeamirhe Sling in an exclusive talent development week in the Netherlands.
The camp, organized by the Dutch Basketball Association (NBB), took place from May 30 to June 8, 2025, and brought together four promising athletes—two from Curaçao and two from Aruba.

Faustino and Nheiy-Jeamirhe were selected for their outstanding performance during the recent Weganan Intersular 2025 tournament, where they stood out for their athletic skill, dedication, and growth potential. Their participation in the talent camp marked a significant step in their development as athletes and role models.
A Week of Growth and Opportunity
The intensive program in the Netherlands included:
Professional training sessions led by top-level coaches,
Friendly matches against Dutch youth teams,
Workshops on personal development, mental resilience, and nutrition,
Guidance on educational and athletic pathways in the Netherlands,
Visits to vocational, higher education, and university institutions,
Cultural excursions to broaden their horizons.
The week offered participants not only high-level basketball experience but also valuable exposure to life as student-athletes abroad.
FDDK’s Continued Commitment
FDDK played an active role in making this opportunity possible and continues to guide the athletes throughout the process. The foundation underlines the importance of international exposure as part of a long-term strategy for youth development through sports.
“Through our school sports programs, we encourage consistent youth participation in sports to strengthen them not only physically, but also mentally and socially,” said FDDK Director Vergilly Winklar. “Faustino and Nheiy-Jeamirhe’s participation in this international camp is a natural progression in that journey. They are living proof that local effort and talent can lead to international opportunity. FDDK fully supports their development.”
Representing Curaçao with Pride
The achievements of Faustino Wawoe and Nheiy-Jeamirhe Sling highlight what can be accomplished with talent, guidance, and collaboration. Their participation shows that young athletes from small islands can compete and shine on international stages—representing Curaçao with pride and promise.
