WILLEMSTAD - A tragic workplace accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon around 2:45 PM at Kunuku Aqua Resort, claiming the life of a staff member. 

The incident involved an employee from the resort’s Technical Service Department who lost control of a forklift while performing his duties. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with the attending police physician confirming his death upon arrival. 

Several of the victim’s colleagues were present at the time and witnessed the accident. They have since received support from victim assistance services provided by the Curaçao Police Force (KPC). Psychological support has also been made available to resort guests who may have been affected by the event. 

The employee’s family was immediately informed following the accident. 

Kunuku Aqua Resort released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss, describing the mood among staff as one of profound grief and devastation. The entire team is said to be in shock as they come to terms with the unexpected and tragic event. 

Authorities are expected to further investigate the cause of the accident.
