WILLEMSTAD – A tragic traffic accident occurred Tuesday evening on the Weg naar Westpunt, near Landhuis Daniel, resulting in the death of a female passenger. The fatal crash happened when a vehicle slammed into a divi-divi tree. The cause of the accident remains unknown and is under investigation by the traffic division of the Curaçao Police Force. 

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and veered off the road. Emergency services arrived quickly at the scene and managed to free the driver from the wreckage. The driver was rushed to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) along with a minor, who was also transported to the hospital in urgent condition. 

The woman in the passenger seat showed no signs of life upon the arrival of first responders. Police remained on the scene until a medical examiner officially confirmed her death. 

The woman’s identity has not yet been released. She is the fifth traffic fatality in Curaçao so far this year.
