WILLEMSTAD - The police and the Public Prosecution Service have announced extra strict checks on payment of the motor vehicle tax paid for the first half of 2023. If this is not the case, a fine will follow.
The Tax and Customs Administration has been collecting motor vehicle tax since January. For the first part of the year, the vehicle owner receives a yellow sticker for verification, a blue one for a whole year of taxation.
The government emphasizes that payment of the tax is mandatory. The money is used, for example, to maintain the Juliana Bridge and traffic lights, to install new thresholds at schools and to install LED lighting.
In addition, the government says that not all roads can be worked on just like that. This is done in a structured way. Residents have been asked for years to be patient.
Drivers can pay taxes at the counters of the General Savings and Credit Cooperative ACU in Zuikertuin Mall and in Santa Maria. They can also pay at all Cpost locations.
