WILLEMSTAD - The Coast Guard, the police and other authorities will check at sea and along the coastlines on Sunday during Fuikdag 2023. This is reported by the Caribbean Coast Guard. The Coast Guard asks owners of boats to take into account the rules that apply to Fuikdag.
According to the Coast Guard, the purpose of the checks is to guarantee that people comply with the measures. For example, the sale of alcohol is not allowed on Sunday, as is playing music on fleets or stages. In addition, the boats must have sufficient life jackets on board and the correct shipping documents.
The Port and Safety Inspectorate and the Coast Guard will carry out the checks. The fire brigade will also check whether a BBQ is lit, for example. According to the Coast Guard, playing music after 5 p.m. is no longer allowed, as is gathering at the bay or other locations at sea.
The Coast Guard also warns against picking up and bringing people to Fuikbaai. This is not allowed, because some people stay behind and cannot return to Caracas Bay. As a result, they then walk across Barbara Beach's private property back to town. According to the Coast Guard, this causes chaos. Boats from abroad must enter through Immigration and Customs to clear. According to the Coast Guard, the authorities will act immediately if people and boats do not comply with the said measures.
