WILLEMSTAD - Don Andres N.V. recently made a commercial trip to Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago where they took another significant step in realizing their vision of connecting the ABC islands with the region. Starting September 2024, Don Andres initiates a direct maritime connection, with 2 days transit between Curaçao and Trinidad & Tobago. Don Andres N.V and Gulf Shipping Limited have partnered to offer this direct bi-weekly service from Trinidad to Curaçao, Bonaire and Aruba.

During recent days a delegation of Don Andres N.V. and their strategic partner Gulf Shipping has participated in various meetings with the port of Port of Spain. Also, both companies were received at the office of the Ministry of Trade and Industry by Honorable Senator Paula Gopee-Scoon. During a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, His Excellency Cornelis Hersbach and Mrs. Shantal Richardson, Senior Policy Officer the representatives spoke about the positive impact of this maritime connection between Curaçao and Port of Spain.
Managing Director of Don Andres N.V, Mr. Eugenio de Jongh emphasizes the continuous believe in the economy of Curaçao, Bonaire and Aruba. This direct connection is a great opportunity for the business community from the ABC islands. Don Andres N.V. wants to thank Mrs. Vanessa Toré of the Ministry of Economic Development in Curaçao for her support once again, as was the case in 2019 at the start of the route to Rio Haina.

Like Don Andres N.V, Gulf Shipping Limited is also a family business that for more than 35 years provides services in the maritime industry. Don Andres N.V. has its headquarters in Bonaire with its managing director Mr. Eugenio de Jongh. The company also has a branch in Curaçao. Don Andres N.V. began sailing the route to Rio Haina, Dominican Republic in 2019 with the vision to connect the ABC islands with the region. According to Mr. Eugenio de Jongh, “After 5 years we continue with our plan; today in 2024, with our slogan "ABC Direct" we achieve this impactful maritime connection with Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. This route will bring many benefits for traders of the ABC islands who will now be able to count on just 2 days of transit.
This is made possible thanks to an alliance with Gulf Shipping Limited which will act as agency in Trinidad & Tobago”. Mrs. Sonja Voisin, Managing Director of Gulf Shipping Limited, indicates that she is committed to the route from Trinidad to the ABC islands. In Aruba, Don Andres N.V will have Global Marine Services N.V. as the agency handling shipments. The first ship from Trinidad will arrive in Curaçao on September 22nd, 2024.
