WILLEMSTAD - Fintech refers to ‘The application of technology and innovation to make financial products and services more effective and/or more accessible for users’.
During this event, invitees had the opportunity to meet the board and founding members of the CFA. They learned and discussed the challenges and opportunities of Fintech and learned how they too can benefit from and be part of the local Fintech community.
The event was attended by representatives of government organizations, banks and financial institutions, merchants and of course fintech companies.
The Chairman of the CFA, Geraume Bor, kicked off the evening program by eloquently presenting the purpose of the association and why Fintech is important for our future.
Local fintech companies and market stakeholders should join the CFA, added Mr. Cedric Pieters of the CBCS, as it is poised to soon be the official market representative organization to the Government and Central Bank when it comes to developments in payment ecosystem, infrastructure, and innovative financial products and solutions, and the related legislations.
Ms Priscilla Lotman, founder of UME Front Shore, gave an inspiring speech on future possible use cases of how “Fin” and “Tech” may develop. The use case, reversed value transfer when a client provides personal information for bank compliance purposes, made all present scratch their brains.
“Banks can benefit from working with FinTech companies who offer niche products that improve the customer experience,” said Mr. Luis Santine, a FinTech expert and co-founder of CX Pay, a local fintech company.
It was a very well-received event that promised continued collaboration; a catalyst towards realizing the benefits of technology, innovation and inclusion for all. Innovation!
