WILLEMSTAD - Starting in September 2025, EuroCollege will offer a new gap year program in Curaçao, providing a unique opportunity for students who are undecided about pursuing further education or taking a year off. This program is designed for those seeking additional time to reflect on their career choices while simultaneously focusing on personal development, gaining practical experience, and shaping their future plans.
EuroCollege, one of the oldest private educational institutions in the Netherlands, aims to foster a positive mindset and a strong work ethic through its gap year program. Participants will work on creating study and career plans and will also intern with local businesses in Curaçao.
The island's booming tourism industry offers abundant internship opportunities, providing students with valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.
According to Tjalie van de Walle, a member of EuroCollege’s management team, the program addresses the needs of many young people who feel uncertain about their future after high school or following an unsuccessful first attempt at higher education.
"Many students are faced with the dilemma of not wanting to commit to a full degree program while also not wanting to waste a year. This gap year gives them the chance to use their time productively, explore their future options, and gain experience in a beautiful setting," said Van de Walle.

The program will initially accept 20 to 30 students per month, allowing for flexible enrollment throughout the year. The Curaçao location, provided by Corendon founder Atilay Uslu, offers an inspiring setting for both personal and professional growth.
In addition to the gap year program, EuroCollege is exploring the possibility of offering bachelor’s degrees in business administration and hospitality management in Curaçao. The institution also plans to make scholarship opportunities available for talented local students on the island.
This initiative is seen as a way for students to gain clarity on their future path while immersing themselves in a vibrant culture and gaining valuable work experience in Curaçao’s thriving tourism sector.
