WILLEMSTAD - Eugene Morillo has been chosen as a new member of the Council for Law Enforcement, representing Curaçao. The approval of his nomination was granted today by the Kingdom Council of Ministers. The proposal for his appointment was put forward by Minister Yeşilgöz of Justice and Security, who is currently in a caretaker role. Morillo will take over from Luigi Virginia, whose term concluded on June 21st.
The primary mandate of the Council for Law Enforcement is to conduct research on the functioning of the judicial chain and offer recommendations to enhance the efficacy of the justice system. With his extensive background in the field, Morillo is well-suited for this position. He previously served as the secretary and chief inspector at the Curaçao secretariat of the Council for Law Enforcement from 2012 to 2022.
Morillo brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having practiced law for over thirty years, specializing in constitutional, administrative, and civil law. His familiarity with the organization and expertise in legal matters will undoubtedly contribute to the Council's important work.
