Errol Prens, Dermatologist at Erasmus MC, donates to Carmabi on the occasion of his retirement

Local | By Press release March 22, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Errol Prens, a prominent dermatologist at Erasmus MC, has made a generous donation to the Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity (CARMABI) foundation in honor of his upcoming retirement. Instead of receiving personal gifts during his farewell celebration, Prens asked his guests to contribute to Carmabi's coral restoration project, an initiative close to his heart.

During a recent visit to Curaçao, where Prens is currently enjoying vacation, he had the opportunity to speak with researchers involved in the Carmabi project. His goal was to gain deeper insight into the progress of the coral restoration project and assess the need for financial support. This visit only strengthened his decision to support Carmabi.

The initiator is no stranger to Carmabi. As early as 1992, during his PhD studies, Prens supported the organization with a donation. This latest contribution, in honor of his retirement, underscores his ongoing commitment to the organization and its goals. The collection during his retirement celebration raised an impressive amount of 5000 euros.

Errol Prens is known for his annual visits to the island and his deep appreciation for the natural beauty and ecological diversity of Curaçao. With this donation, he aims to make a lasting impact on the preservation of the coral reef, essential for marine biodiversity and the local community.
