WILLEMSTAD - On Thursday morning, employees of Selikor went on strike because their temporary contracts are not being renewed.
The entrance to the premises of the waste processing company, the Vehicle Inspection Hall, and the Department of Public Works (DOW) is blocked.
The labor union BTG confirms the dissatisfaction among the staff. However, the waste management company does not want to hire the employees on a permanent basis and has sent them home forcibly. After three months, they are allowed to return for a new temporary contract. This way, Selikor avoids having to employ personnel permanently after three contracts.
