WILLEMSTAD – Elvis de Andrade, a member of the political party UP, has officially filed a protest regarding the conduct of the primary elections that took place over the weekend. According to De Andrade, numerous questions have arisen regarding the transparency and fairness of the process, and he is calling for all parties who participated in the list support but did not receive enough votes to still be allowed to compete in the March 21 elections.
De Andrade claims that the Electoral Council excluded supporters who wished to oversee the vote-counting process, and he also asserts that the party's count of votes for UP at polling stations was much lower than initially reported.
De Andrade describes the situation as “strange”, particularly noting that Minister Charles Cooper from the VVRP visited all polling stations during the list support process on Saturday and Sunday. De Andrade has expressed concern about the minister’s involvement and is seeking clarification on the purpose of the minister’s actions.
If he does not receive a satisfactory response to his letter, De Andrade has threatened to take legal action and file an emergency injunction to challenge the process.
