Electricity and Water Prices Slightly Lower in March

Local | By Correspondent February 21, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – The rates for electricity and water will decrease starting March 1. Both households and businesses will see a slight reduction in their bills due to declining fuel costs and an adjusted correction factor. This was confirmed in the latest tariff adjustment published by the government.

For electricity, the cost per kilowatt-hour will drop slightly, depending on usage. A household consuming up to 250 kilowatt-hours will now pay 56 cents per kilowatt-hour, compared to the previous rate of just over 57 cents. Businesses and industrial consumers will also benefit from a modest reduction in their electricity costs.

Water rates will follow a similar trend. Households that consume up to nine cubic meters of water will pay 8.12 guilders per cubic meter, slightly lower than the current rate of almost 8.13 guilders. This minor price reduction is attributed to lower electricity costs in water production and the adjusted correction factor.

According to the government's explanation of the tariff change, the decline is mainly due to a slight drop in average fuel costs for electricity production and a lower correction factor for January.
